HAVE YOU HEARD OF SERRA CLUB?
The Serra Club of St. Clair County is an organization of Catholic men
and women, dedicated to foster and affirm vocations to the Priesthood
and vowed religious life. Our purpose is to inform our community of the
need for all vocations. We honor our religious with an annual Nuns Luncheon,
a Deacon Dinner, a Priest Picnic and a new Priest Dinner. We pray for our seminarians and help them celebrate their birthdays. Our club meets every
first and third Friday of the month. There is a Mass, lunch, a speaker and
a brief meeting. You are welcome to join us as our guest. For more
information please contact
Marvin Winkeler (402-214-1155) or Mel Lucash (618-531-4244)

Calling all pro-life advocates!
40 Days for Life is the largest, international pro-life mobilization,
and we are trying to help it become even greater in our area! For 40 days (September 25 thru November 3), we will be holding a vigil that includes
prayer, fasting, and community outreach. We are in need of volunteers for
many aspects, but especially to hold vigil hour(s) during these dates.
Our Cast the Vision/ Kick Off Party is Monday, August 26 at
7pm in the St. Teresa Parish Center
(located at St Teresa SCHOOL
at 1108 Lebanon Ave., Belleville). Father Nicholas Junker will be our guest speaker! Everyone is invited, and there is no need to RSVP. For more information, you can visit the website (www.40daysforlife.com),

Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time – 25 August 2019 Isaiah 66:18-21. Psalm 117:1, 2. Hebrews 12:5-7, 11-13. Luke 13:22-30.

Being saved. Here is the truth: many, and not just a few, will be saved. We believe it even though we do not always behave like we do believe! Jesus says today that the threshold to heaven is a narrow gate. Jesus says this passing through it is constant striving. Jesus says many will come from all directions and places to enter and dine at heaven’s table.  How will I work hard to be human and Christian?  How will I rely on God’s power and strength to enter the Kingdom of Heaven?  How can I be like God and embrace everyone from everywhere?
Check the Corporal Works of Mercy. How can I give up some of my wants to give to someone in need? Corporal Works of Mercy ¨ Feed the hungry ¨ Give drink to the thirsty ¨ Shelter the homeless ¨ Clothe the naked ¨ Visit the sick ¨ Visit the prisoners ¨ Bury the dead ¨ Give alms to the poor ¨ Care of our Common Home ¨ Spiritual Works of Mercy ¨ Counseling the doubtful ¨ Instructing the ignorant ¨ Admonishing the sinner ¨ Comforting the sorrowful ¨ Forgiving injuries ¨ Bearing wrongs patiently ¨ Praying for the living and the dead ¨ Caring for our Common Home ¨
